About us
I started making these stools as a way to provide better posture for the people who are meditating. I used to teach anatomy and as such was highly aware of the body and posture - so was inspired to make a stools that allowed better posture during meditation.
I was lucky enough to work on a stand at the Mind, Body and Spirit festival and noticed that there were few items made from wood - at the time I was making wooden toys for kids, so I wanted to explore what I could make from wood that would suit the people who went to the festival, and so I stared out with a stand that had a range of wooden products - from that first festival I found that the stools were successful and so focussed on them and built a thriving side business and selling them as festivals and markets.
- The origin of our logo
- When I first starting making these stools- they looked very different and had rectangular legs so that the user could turn the legs around and have different heights for their stool. Ove r several iterations and following feedback form customers, I refined it to the triangle shape as seen today.
- The customer that ordered the first stool that had the triangle legs wanted a yin-yang symbol carved into each of the side legs - and so the logo represents that first stool in this design, as well as being a universal symbol for both zen meditation and also the trinity of Mind, Body and Spirit.
